Patna: The Bihar government is planning a major sports infrastructure hub within the proposed Pataliputra Greenfield Satellite Township, with 651 acres earmarked for sports facilities, including a 225-acre Sports City, a golf course and a modern sports complex.
The proposal was discussed at a meeting chaired by Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra, attended by Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh and senior officials from the two departments, on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on developing modern, world-class sports facilities within the greenfield township, including infrastructure capable of supporting training and hosting sporting competitions.
225-Acre Sports City Proposed
According to the integrated plan for the township, 651 acres have been allocated for sports-related activities and infrastructure.
The proposal includes:
- 225 acres for a Sports City
- 187 acres for a golf course
- 239 acres for a modern sports complex
The proposed Sports City is expected to include state-of-the-art facilities for multiple sports, training and competition infrastructure, as well as amenities designed for athletes.
The sports complex would provide facilities for a wider range of sporting activities within the township.

Focus On Olympic-Standard Facilities
Shreyasi Singh said the township should be developed as a future-oriented urban centre combining modern civic amenities with high-quality sports infrastructure.
She said the proposed facilities would be developed in line with Olympic standards, with the aim of enabling Bihar to host national and international sporting competitions.
The sports infrastructure is also intended to provide athletes from Bihar with access to better training and competition facilities, potentially reducing the need to travel outside the state for advanced sporting opportunities.
Singh also said land required for sports facilities would be identified across all 12 proposed townships in the state, with the aim of creating quality sports infrastructure in each.

Nitish Mishra said the state government was seeking to encourage young people to pursue sports, develop their talent and compete at national and international levels.
He said modern infrastructure was necessary to provide athletes with suitable facilities for training, practice and competition.
The proposed sports facilities in the Pataliputra Greenfield Satellite Township form part of the wider plan to integrate sports infrastructure into the development of the new urban settlement.
Senior officials attending the meeting included Urban Development and Housing Department Principal Secretary Vinay Kumar, Sports Department Secretary Deepak Anand, Sports Department Director Arif Ahsan and Urban Development and Housing Department Additional Secretary Manoj Kumar.
