Patliputra Stn to Get New Coaching Complex for Vande Bharat Trains
Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) is expanding its operations with the addition of four Vande Bharat trains: Patna-Howrah, Patna-Ranchi, Patna-Gomtinagar, and New Jalpaiguri-Patna. To support the maintenance of these advanced trains, a new coaching complex will be built in Patliputra, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 200 crore. This development was confirmed by the ECR’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Saraswati Chandra.
The initial steps for constructing the Patliputra coaching complex have begun. The project will include a 630-meter long washing pit line and a way-line with a shed for inspection and maintenance. All lines will be equipped with overhead electric wires (OHE). Additionally, three separate stabling lines, a heavy repair shed, and a bogie repair shed will be constructed. Once complete, the complex will have the capacity to maintain ten Vande Bharat trains, each with 24 coaches, simultaneously.
Furthermore, the Rajendra Nagar Coaching Complex has been upgraded at a cost of Rs 20 crore to facilitate the maintenance of Vande Bharat trains. Ongoing improvements include the upgrading of platforms on line numbers 1 and 5 to accommodate Vande Bharat rakes. Essential testing equipment for the inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment has been installed, and the OHE wires on these lines have been replaced to suit the new rakes.
