Patna: The Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township is being planned as more than a residential development, with the Bihar government preparing to turn it into a new centre for economic and commercial activity.
The Urban Development and Housing Department will prepare an economic master plan to determine how business, investment and employment opportunities can be developed within the township as its population grows.
The plan will outline the types of economic activities that could be established in the township, the business environment required to attract investment and ways to expand local employment opportunities.
Development To Focus On Economic Potential
The department has started work on the tender process for preparing the economic master plan. The objective is to align the township’s future development with its economic potential.
The study will assess potential commercial activities in different sectors, investment opportunities and prospects for employment generation. Based on this assessment, the plan will identify the locations and infrastructure required for future economic activities.
This approach is intended to ensure that economic development is considered alongside the township’s residential expansion.
Markets And Business Facilities Planned
The master plan will take into account the needs of the population expected to settle in the township as well as the potential economic development of surrounding areas.
Provision will be made for markets, businesses and other economic activities required to support the growing population. The government is also expected to focus on creating local opportunities for trade and employment as the township expands.
Planning commercial infrastructure within the township could help residents access essential services and business facilities locally while supporting wider economic activity in the area.
Employment Generation A Key Focus
Employment generation will be an important component of the economic master plan. The plan is expected to help determine how the township can meet the future demand for businesses and jobs as its population increases.
The government is looking to balance residential development with commercial and economic growth, allowing the township to develop as an integrated urban area rather than solely as a housing zone.
The economic master plan will provide a framework for identifying future activities, investment opportunities and employment potential while taking the township’s long-term growth into account.
Proposals Invited Until September 28
The department has begun the process of selecting an expert agency to prepare the economic master plan.
Proposals have been invited from eligible agencies, with September 28 set as the deadline for submission.
The selected agency will study the township’s economic potential and prepare the master plan covering future economic activities, investment prospects and employment opportunities. The study is expected to guide the planning of commercial and economic infrastructure as the Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township develops.
