Buxar/Patna: Brahmpur police in Bihar’s Buxar district have arrested teacher Arvind Kumar, the prime accused in a case involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor student and circulation of a video linked to the incident.
Police arrested Arvind at Nandini Mall and brought him to the police station, where he is being interrogated. Three other teachers have also been detained for questioning as part of the investigation.
Buxar SP Shubham Arya said three female students have so far been identified as victims in the case.
Another teacher named in investigation
According to the police, the investigation began after an allegedly objectionable video surfaced and subsequently led to the name of another teacher, Virendra, emerging alongside Arvind.
Virendra is posted at a middle school in the area under Krishnabrahm police station.
Police have registered an FIR in the case and arrested the school’s headmaster, Mohammad Imam Ali Ansari. The headmaster had also been included in the list of nominees for the State Teacher Award 2026. Following the allegations, the district administration cancelled his nomination.
Student’s complaint
In her complaint, an eighth-grade student alleged that Arvind took her to a hotel, sexually assaulted her and recorded the incident without her consent. She further alleged that he subsequently threatened to circulate the video and used it to coerce her into repeated sexual abuse.
The student told police that she had been studying at the school since Class 1 and was in Class 6 in 2024. She said Arvind initially appeared strict but later became friendly with students.
According to her statement recorded in the FIR, Arvind would allegedly call female students to meet him and then pressure them to contact other girls.
The student alleged that she was sexually assaulted after being taken to a room and that she repeatedly resisted and pleaded with him to stop. She said she was unaware at the time that the incident had allegedly been recorded.
She further alleged that Arvind later threatened to make the video public and sexually assaulted her repeatedly over a period of about a month. She eventually blocked his phone number, according to her complaint.
