Patna: Air traffic at Patna airport remained under strain on Tuesday as dense fog and cold weather conditions led to flight cancellations and delays, prolonging travel woes for passengers in Bihar’s capital.
Two IndiGo flights — 6E-2425 and 6E-5007 — operating on the Delhi–Patna–Delhi sector were cancelled due to poor visibility caused by fog. In addition, at least 13 arriving and departing flights were delayed by around 30 minutes to one and a half hours, according to airport officials.
The disruptions caused visible distress among passengers, many of whom were seen waiting for hours inside the terminal. A brief spell of confusion followed the announcement of cancellations, as travellers sought information on alternative arrangements.
Airport authorities said the adverse weather, combined with delays carried over from previous flights, had affected the day’s schedule. They described the cancellations as operational decisions taken in the interest of safety amid persistent fog.
IndiGo advised affected passengers to contact the airline for rebooking options or refunds. Airport officials also urged travellers to check the status of their flights with airlines before heading to the airport, warning that fog-related disruptions could continue as cold conditions persist across the region.
