Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has started a special campaign to protect people from mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria during the rainy season. Under this campaign, teams are going from house to house to spray anti-larvae medicines to stop mosquito breeding. Officials said this drive will cover all residential areas, rooftops, water tanks, coolers and construction sites.
Apart from homes, spraying is also being done in hospitals, government offices, schools and public buildings. A total of 375 teams have been deployed for this work. Corporation officers will inspect these places twice every week to ensure that spraying is done properly. Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar said, “The aim is to stop dengue and malaria completely. Special teams of doctors have been sent to sensitive places like hospitals for safety.”
The spraying is being done in two phases – first in homes and then in public buildings. Teams have been asked to cover at least 50 houses every day. Fogging is also being done in all affected wards in the morning and evening as dengue mosquitoes bite during daytime. Separate teams have been deployed in major hospitals like PMCH and NMCH to spray and fog in two shifts daily. These teams will also send geo-tagged photos to the headquarters for monitoring.
People can call 155304 to complain if fogging or spraying is not done in their area. Officials said that all markets, public places and areas with complaints are being given priority to keep the city safe from dengue and malaria.
