Patna: A locked house in Ashokpuri Colony under Shastri Nagar police station limits was burgled, with thieves stealing valuables worth several lakhs and removing CCTV evidence, police said.
The incident came to light when the homeowner, Shashank Shekhar, returned to Patna after nearly two months and found the locks of his residence broken.
Break-In And Evidence Tampering
According to the complaint filed with the police, the intruders forced open multiple locks, including the main entrance, and ransacked the house.
They also damaged installed CCTV cameras and took away the hard disk, apparently to eliminate any recorded evidence.
Items Stolen
The complainant told police that the burglars stole Rs 50,000 in cash, jewellery including a necklace set valued at around Rs 3.5 lakh, silver ornaments, watches and important documents.
Among the missing items were property papers and personal documents, including death certificates of family members.
Police Investigation Underway
Police said a first information report (FIR) has been registered and an investigation is under way.
Officials are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras in an attempt to identify the suspects.
Rising Concern
The incident has raised concerns among residents about the security of locked homes, particularly when families are away for extended periods.
Police said further action would be taken based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
