Patna: A young man has been left critically injured after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire in Patna’s Barh subdivision early on Tuesday morning, triggering panic across the area. The attack is reported to have occurred as the man, identified as Gorelal Yadav, went to his fields at daybreak.
The incident took place in the Kaima Tal locality under the Saksohra police station, where witnesses say three men on a motorcycle approached the victim before opening fire.
Yadav suffered two gunshot wounds, including one to the head and another to the shoulder. Family members and residents rushed him to the Barh Sub-Divisional Hospital, from where he was referred to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) in critical condition. A doctor confirmed to local media that his condition remains “serious”.
Police have launched an investigation and increased patrols in the surrounding area. Officers say they are working to identify the attackers and determine a motive. Yadav, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver, had no known disputes or enmity, according to his family.
The shooting has caused fear and alarm among residents, many of whom say such incidents are rare in the locality. Authorities have appealed for witnesses and asked local shops and residences to share any available CCTV footage.
