Patna: A young man was seriously injured after being shot near his home in the Belwarganj area of Patna late on Thursday night, in what police have described as a targeted attack by two unidentified assailants.
The incident occurred in Morcha Mohalla under the jurisdiction of Alamganj police station. According to authorities, two men on a motorbike approached the victim, Sahil Kumar, and opened fire before fleeing the scene. Sahil, a labourer by profession, sustained bullet wounds to his neck and shoulder.
He was rushed to Nalanda Medical College Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical.
Local police, including Alamganj station head Rahul Kumar Thakur and Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkishore Singh, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Investigators recovered two bullet casings from the site, and a probe is underway.
“We are investigating all possible angles,” DSP Singh said. “The attackers have been identified and efforts are on to arrest them.”
Sahil’s brother, Sagar Kumar, told police that his brother had stepped out for a walk after dinner when he was attacked. The family suspects the shooting may be linked to an earlier dispute involving liquor sales.
