Patna: Two teenagers were killed and another critically injured in Patna after a collision between a speeding bike and a school bus during a street race on Sunday morning.
The accident took place near the Nadwan underpass on the four-lane road in Dhanarua when about half a dozen boys and girls, riding on three bikes, were reportedly racing back from Dumri. One of the bikes collided with a school bus coming from the opposite direction.
Police confirmed that 17-year-old Rajnish Kumar of Krishnapuri Mohalla and Jeetu, 18, of Balihari in Masaurhi, died on the spot. A third rider, Avinash Kumar, 17, of Bari Bigha, sustained severe injuries and was referred to PMCH in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, two girls were also among the group riding on the other bikes, who fled immediately after the crash. Both the bus and the damaged bike have been seized by the police.
The accident has thrown two villages into mourning, with grieving families struggling to accept the sudden loss of their sons. Police said no formal complaint has yet been lodged by the victims’ families, but further investigation is under way.
