Patna: A five-year-old girl who went missing from the ESIC hospital in Bihta on Wednesday evening was rescued by police within 12 hours, bringing immense relief to her family. The child, identified as Dhaneshwari Kumari, was recovered from the Phulwari Sharif area of Patna early on Thursday.
Her father, Ajay Kumar, broke down in tears upon being reunited with his daughter.
Dhaneshwari had accompanied her mother, Sapna Kumari, who has been admitted to the hospital since December 6. The child’s sudden disappearance triggered panic in the hospital and prompted an immediate police response.
CCTV leads police to suspects
Bihta police reviewed CCTV footage from across the hospital premises, which showed a suspicious woman leading the child away while a female security guard appeared to look on. Acting on the footage, officers began tracking possible routes the suspects could have taken.
Within hours, police received information that a woman and a young man were seen with a child in the Phulwarisharif area. A joint team from Bihta and Phulwarisharif police launched a raid and safely recovered the girl.
The woman taken into custody has been identified as 35-year-old Nisha Bharti, and the young man as 28-year-old Suresh Kumar. Both are being interrogated to determine their motive and whether others may be involved.
