Patna: The district administration has launched a large-scale operation to remove illegal constructions and encroachments in the Paliganj subdivision of Patna, officials confirmed. On the orders of the Patna District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer Garima Lohiya led bulldozer operations that demolished several unauthorised structures along a stretch of approximately two kilometres.
The operation, which ran from Durga Sthan to Chandaus Mor, was carried out with a heavy police presence, including Zonal Officer Mohan Kumar, DSP Rajiv Chandra Singh, and local Station House Officer Suman Kumar. Authorities said the targeted encroachments, which had been obstructing traffic for several years, included both shopkeepers’ establishments and private homes built on government land.
Residents welcomed the action, describing it as a relief from longstanding traffic congestion. “Such steps should be taken regularly so that those encroaching illegally remain cautious,” said one local.
Paliganj Block Development Officer Mohan Kumar stated that the administration plans to continue these operations. “Illegal structures were removed today from Durga Sthan to Chandaus Mor. Similar action has been taken previously from Paliganj to Arwal Mor and Bihta Mor. If anyone attempts illegal construction in the future, legal measures will be enforced,” he said. Regular inspections will also be conducted to prevent further encroachments.
