Patna: Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) organised a seminar to help students prepare for future careers and understand opportunities available through government initiatives. The event was held in collaboration with the Counselling, Training and Placement Cell of Patna University and was facilitated by the Labour Resources Department of the Government of Bihar. The seminar aimed to familiarise students with placement avenues, internship schemes and other career-focused programmes that can support them after graduation.
The session began with a welcome address by Mr Alok John, Dean of National and International Collaborations and Consultancy Services at Patna Women’s College. He underlined the importance of career counselling and said such platforms give students much-needed guidance as they prepare for professional life. This was followed by Prof S. B. Lal, Dean of the PG Department of Commerce at Patna University and Professor In-charge of the Placement Cell, who spoke about the role of universities in supporting students with career advice and opportunities beyond academics.
Dr Bhavuk Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology and Assistant In-charge of the Placement Cell at Patna University, highlighted various government schemes that offer internships and placements to students. He explained how these schemes can provide practical experience and boost employability. Adding to this, Ms Anjali Kumari, Labour Employment Officer from the Government of Bihar, shared insights on state-level employment programmes and encouraged students to actively take part in them. She stressed that such initiatives are designed to help young graduates find suitable jobs.
The event was smoothly coordinated by Mr Gautam Saurabh, Assistant Training and Placement Officer at Patna Women’s College. Teachers and organisers said the seminar gave students valuable information and confidence to plan their careers. They added that by connecting students with university leaders and government officials, the college is ensuring that young people have the knowledge and resources to succeed in an increasingly competitive job market
