Patna: A young woman was saved from death after she jumped from the double-decker flyover near Patna College on Annie Besant Road in Patna on Thursday. The shocking incident happened in broad daylight and left everyone present at the scene stunned. According to eyewitnesses, the young woman, believed to be around 18 to 20 years old, was seen sitting on the railing of the flyover just moments before she jumped. Alert people standing below quickly gathered and managed to catch her before she could fall directly onto the road.
The brave action of the crowd helped prevent a major tragedy. Even though she was caught before hitting the ground, the woman suffered injuries to her head and other parts of her body. Local people immediately rushed to help her and took her to Patna Medical College and Hospital for treatment. She was reportedly unconscious when admitted to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have not yet shared details about her present condition.
Police reached the spot soon after getting information about the incident. Officials from Pirbahore police station have started an investigation. The Station House Officer said that the identity of the young woman has not been confirmed yet. Police are also trying to find out why she took such a serious step. No suicide note or any personal details have been found so far.
People present at the scene described the incident as very sudden and frightening. Witnesses said the woman sat quietly on the railing for nearly 15 seconds while looking down at the road. Someone noticed her and raised an alarm. Within moments, hundreds of people gathered below the flyover. Some people tried to rush toward her to stop her, but before anyone could reach her, she jumped. Thankfully, the people below were ready and caught her in time.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about mental health and emotional distress among young people. Police and local residents are now trying to identify the woman and contact her family. The quick action of the crowd has been praised, as their bravery and presence of mind helped save a life.
