Patna: Patna’s Patliputra Colony was the scene of a shocking theft when a doctor’s house was broken into, and valuables worth around 25 lakh rupees were stolen. The house, located at number 42/A under the Patliputra police station area, was locked before the incident, but thieves managed to break in while the owner was away on duty. Among the stolen items were a gold necklace, four gold rings weighing about 250 grams, and a new iPhone. Dr Khalid Mohsin, the homeowner, immediately filed a complaint at the local police station.
Dr Mohsin discovered the theft after returning from work at a nearby hospital. The main gate of his house was closed, but the lock on the main door had been broken. Upon noticing the signs of forced entry, he contacted emergency services by calling 112. Investigators found the tools used for the robbery, including screwdrivers and pliers, left behind at the scene, but they were not taken by the police for further examination.
The doctor shared his distress over the incident, highlighting the historic importance of his house. “This is my ancestral home. The owners of Vedanta once lived here. Such an incident has never happened before,” he said. He also expressed concern about his safety, saying that as a doctor who serves the community, it is frightening to feel so vulnerable in his own home. “I had kept a gold chain, ring, and a new Apple phone at home. Everything is missing,” he added.
The theft has raised worries about home security in Patliputra Colony. Neighbours have expressed shock and called for increased vigilance in the area. Meanwhile, the Patliputra police have registered a case and begun investigating the incident, but no suspects have been identified yet. Dr Mohsin’s loss of jewelry and gadgets worth 25 lakh rupees is a reminder of how even well-secured homes can fall prey to crime.
