Patna: A woman and her daughter were left critically injured after being struck by a car in Patna’s Kankarbagh area on Sunday, police said.
The accident took place near Canara Bank in Ashok Nagar, where the two, identified as Kanchan Devi and her 18-year-old daughter Ladli, were travelling on a scooter when they were hit by a Wagon R. Both sustained serious head and leg injuries.
Eyewitnesses said Devi was trapped under the vehicle before locals rushed to her rescue, overturning the car to pull her out. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
The victims were taken to Medanta Hospital with the help of bystanders. “The woman’s condition is critical,” said Ranjit Kumar Gupta, a local resident who witnessed the incident.
Police confirmed that the car had been seized and moved to Kankarbagh police station. “An FIR will be registered at Zero Mile police station once the victim’s statement is recorded,” said Inspector Saroj Kumar. A large crowd had gathered following the accident, leading to brief chaos on the road.
