Samastipur: A serious case of human trafficking has come to light in Bihar after two minor sisters from Samastipur district went missing last week. The girls, who lived in the Shivajinagar police station area, left home for school on September 13 but did not return. Their sudden disappearance sparked fear and anxiety among their family members and the local community.
Police investigations revealed that the girls had been contacted and befriended by a young man through the social media app Snapchat. The accused reportedly planned to take the girls to Gujarat. Four days after the girls went missing, their mother filed a case at the Shivajinagar police station against unknown individuals, prompting a detailed investigation by the Bihar Police.
Working closely with the Gujarat Police, authorities traced the sisters to Silwara in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, more than 1,800 kilometers from their home. Both girls were rescued safely and returned to their family. The swift recovery highlighted the importance of cross-state coordination and the use of technical investigations in tracking missing children in human trafficking cases.
Police have arrested a key suspect, Badal Kumar, a resident of Maheshpur in Bhagalpur district. Investigations suggest he is part of a larger human trafficking network targeting students from Bihar, especially the Darbhanga area. Rosera SDPO Sanjay Kumar Sinha confirmed that both girls are safe and receiving care while the police continue to search for other members of the gang. He also warned that human trafficking is a growing threat in Bihar, and preventing such crimes is becoming increasingly challenging for law enforcement.
