Patna: Bihar is set to receive a big boost in railway connectivity as three new Amrit Bharat Express trains and four passenger trains are all set to start. These trains will be flagged off from Patna Junction in a special event. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will join the event through video conferencing, while Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will be present at the station. Railway officials say this is a major step to connect Bihar with more parts of the country and to make travel more comfortable for common people.
The Amrit Bharat Express is a popular train for middle-class passengers because it is fast, safe, and affordable. At present, Bihar already has 10 Amrit Bharat trains running. After these new three services begin, there will be 13 Amrit Bharat trains running from Bihar – the highest in the country. The new services will include Muzaffarpur to Charlapalli near Hyderabad, Darbhanga to Madar near Ajmer, and Chhapra to Anand Vihar in Delhi. The Muzaffarpur-Charlapalli train will be the first Amrit Bharat train from Muzaffarpur to South India, while the Chhapra-Anand Vihar train will be the sixth such train connecting Bihar to Delhi.
Along with these express trains, four passenger trains will also be introduced to serve local routes. These include the Nawada-Patna DEMU train via Sheikhpura-Barbigha, the Patna-Islampur DEMU, the Patna-Buxar fast passenger, and the Jhajha-Danapur fast passenger. These passenger trains will run six days a week, except Sundays. The Nawada-Patna passenger train will run on the Barbigha-Ashtawan-Bihar Sharif section, which recently passed safety inspection, giving new rail access to several towns and villages. This is expected to be a huge relief for daily commuters and local traders.
The Amrit Bharat Express trains have been designed with modern technology and safety features such as fire detection systems, sealed gangways, and talkback units for emergencies. These features are available even in non-AC coaches, making travel safer for everyone. Officials believe that these new services will encourage more people to travel by train, help businesses transport goods faster, and boost tourism in Bihar. This step is being seen as part of the larger vision of developing Bihar and improving its links with the rest of India.
