Patna: Patna is set to see more double-decker buses on its roads following the growing popularity of the service launched by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) in September. The bus, which runs along the JP Gangapath from Digha Ghat to Kangan Ghat, has already carried 2,245 passengers and generated Rs 214,900 in revenue.
The 40-seater vehicle features 20 air-conditioned seats on each deck, along with a toilet, refrigerator, and a guide providing information on historical landmarks along the route. Tourists currently pay Rs 50 for a one-way trip or Rs 100 for a round trip. Passengers can enjoy views of sites including Golambar, Sabhyata Dwar, Darbhanga House, Gandhi Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Chitragupta Temple, and Kangan Ghat.
Initially operating from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, BSTDC plans to extend winter timings from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, offering a bright and breezy journey along the riverfront. Officials have indicated that if demand continues, additional buses will be added to the route.
The service, which has quickly become a favourite among tourists, offers a unique combination of scenic views, historical insights, and comfort, marking a new chapter in promoting tourism along Patna’s Ganga Path.
