Patna : The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified preparations at Gandhi Maidan ahead of the Dussehra and Ramleela festivals, directing officials to complete deep cleaning, remove encroachments and ensure adequate civic facilities for visitors.

The Dussehra festival will be held from October 11 to 14, while the Ramleela festival will continue until October 21. With large crowds expected at the venue, Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena has instructed the concerned departments to remain prepared for sanitation, drinking water, lighting and drainage requirements throughout the events.

Deep Cleaning At Gandhi Maidan Before Dussehra

The PMC will carry out a special deep-cleaning drive at Gandhi Maidan before the festivals begin.

The work will include cutting overgrown grass and bushes, spraying water where required, fogging and anti-larval treatment to help control mosquitoes.

Officials have been directed to complete the preparations before the events begin and maintain cleanliness during the festival period.

Encroachments To Be Removed Inside And Outside Maidan

The civic body has instructed officials to remove encroachments from both the interior and surrounding areas of Gandhi Maidan.

Authorities will also monitor the venue during the celebrations to prevent fresh encroachments. Entry and exit routes will receive particular attention to help visitors move safely and reduce congestion.

Drinking Water And High-Mast Lights To Be Checked

Adequate drinking water facilities will be arranged for people attending the Dussehra and Ramleela events.

The municipal commissioner has also directed officials to inspect the high-mast lights installed at Gandhi Maidan and ensure that they remain operational. Any necessary repairs to lighting equipment will be carried out before the events.

The PMC will monitor these arrangements throughout the festival period to minimise inconvenience to visitors.

Super Suckers, Pumps On Alert For Waterlogging

With rain-related waterlogging a concern, the PMC has directed officials to identify potential waterlogging locations and prepare drainage equipment in advance.

Pump sets, super suckers and other water-removal equipment will remain on standby. If rain leads to water accumulation, the designated teams will reach the affected spots and begin drainage operations immediately.

Employees responsible for waterlogging management have been instructed to remain on alert so that access to Gandhi Maidan can be maintained as far as possible.

Stray Dog Management Also On Agenda

The civic body has included stray dog management in its festival preparations, keeping visitor safety in mind.

Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena has directed the veterinary officer to take necessary measures to control problems involving stray dogs within the Gandhi Maidan premises during the events.

PMC Teams To Monitor Civic Facilities

The municipal corporation’s teams will remain active throughout the Dussehra and Ramleela festivals. Regular monitoring will cover sanitation, drinking water, lighting, drainage and other public facilities.

The preparations are aimed at ensuring that visitors attending the celebrations at Gandhi Maidan have access to clean surroundings, functioning civic amenities and prompt drainage measures if rain causes waterlogging.
