Patna : The Bihar government has approved Rs 82.85 crore for a road project aimed at improving connectivity between Patna’s Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road and the Parsa-Sampatchak corridor.
The project is expected to provide a direct connection for vehicles travelling towards Sampatchak and Parsa, reducing the need for commuters to travel up to Mahuli and take a U-turn before continuing towards their destination.
Rs 82.85 Crore Administrative Approval
The Bihar Cabinet has granted administrative approval of Rs 82.85 crore for the road construction work. The approval is expected to allow the project to move forward after earlier delays in the process.
The direct connection is being planned to improve traffic movement in the area and provide a smoother route for commuters travelling between Patna and its adjoining areas.
570-Metre Two-Lane Ramp Planned
Under the project, a 570-metre-long, two-lane down ramp will connect the elevated road directly to the Parsa-Sampatchak four-lane road.
The proposed connection is expected to save travel time for commuters and improve traffic flow. It could also help reduce congestion caused by vehicles currently having to make a U-turn near Mahuli.
Land Acquisition For Ramp
The construction of the down ramp will require acquisition of around 2.15 acres of private and other land.
According to the project details, 0.82 acres in Rahimpur Mauza, 1.05 acres in Parsa Mauza and 0.28 acres in Chhatanpur Mauza have been identified for acquisition.
The project had reportedly faced a delay after the process was halted following correspondence from the Bihar State Road Development Corporation. With the Cabinet approval now in place, officials are expected to accelerate the next stages of the work.
Parsa-Sampatchak Road To Be Widened
The project also includes an important road-widening component. The existing two-lane Parsa-Sampatchak road is planned to be upgraded to four lanes.
The Road Construction Department has already selected an agency for the widening work.
The combined improvements are expected to strengthen connectivity in the eastern and southern parts of Patna, while providing a more direct route for vehicles travelling towards Sampatchak, Parsa and surrounding areas.
