Patna: Airfares from Patna to several major cities are set to rise after IndiGo revised its fuel charges amid increasing aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices.
The revised charges will apply to tickets booked from October 7, with passengers travelling from Patna potentially paying Rs 400 to Rs 1,500 more, depending on the route and distance.
Patna To Kolkata, Delhi And Bengaluru Get Costlier
According to fares available for October 8, the Patna-Kolkata fare has increased from Rs 6,100 to Rs 6,500, a rise of Rs 400.
The Patna-Delhi fare has risen from Rs 6,300 to Rs 6,965, while the Mumbai fare has increased from Rs 7,900 to Rs 9,100.
The biggest increase among the listed routes is for Bengaluru. The Patna-Bengaluru fare has gone up from Rs 7,100 to Rs 8,681, an increase of Rs 1,581.
The fare for Patna-Ahmedabad has also increased from Rs 10,200 to Rs 11,528.
Actual airfares may vary depending on the date of travel, flight availability, booking time and fare category.
Fuel Charges Based On Distance
IndiGo has revised its domestic fuel charges according to the distance travelled. The applicable charges are:
- 0-500 km: Rs 375
- 501-1,000 km: Rs 600
- 1,001-1,500 km: Rs 900
- 1,501-2,000 km: Rs 1,150
- Above 2,000 km: Rs 1,300
The revised structure means passengers on longer routes will generally face a higher fuel component in their ticket price.
Why Has IndiGo Increased The Charges?
The airline has attributed the revision to higher aviation turbine fuel costs. The company said it had tried to keep the increase balanced to limit the impact on passengers.
IndiGo said it will continue to monitor fuel prices and market conditions. Fuel charges may be revised again if required, depending on how costs change.
For passengers booking flights from Patna, the final ticket price will continue to depend on the route, travel date, flight, availability and time of booking.
