Patna: A free mammography camp was organised in Patna on Wednesday to spread awareness about breast and cervical cancer. The event was held at Savera Cancer Hospital and was part of the “Healthy Women, Empowered Family” campaign. The camp was organised by Rotary Patna Midtown and the R.S. Memorial Cancer Society. During the programme, 25 women were screened for breast cancer. A large number of women also attended the awareness session where expert doctors shared important information about the symptoms, screening process and prevention of cancer.
Senior radiation oncologist Dr Anita said that women above the age of 40 should undergo regular mammography tests. She explained that regular screening helps detect cancer in its early stages, which can make treatment more effective and save lives. Dr Anita encouraged women not to wait for symptoms to appear but to include cancer screening as part of their regular health routine.
Radiation oncologist Dr Amrita spoke about cervical cancer and gave detailed information on its symptoms, diagnosis, and ways to prevent it. She urged women not to ignore their health and to go for regular checkups. She also said that it is important to clear the social myths about cancer so that women feel comfortable coming forward for treatment.
Dr V.P. Singh, Director and Senior Oncologist at Savera Cancer Hospital, said that the aim of the campaign is to raise health awareness among women and ensure a better future for their families. He also explained the benefits of the “Sashakt Nari” app, which can help women get health information and support easily. Dr Singh said that the campaign will continue until October 2 and will be organised at different locations in Patna so that more women can benefit from free screening and awareness programmes.
