Patna: Patna district administration is gearing up to ensure Muharram passes peacefully on 6 July. In a meeting held on Monday, District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan SM and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma announced that police and magistrates will be deployed at 550 places across the city. This decision aims to maintain law and order during the religious occasion.
Officials said that no processions will be allowed without proper permission from authorities. Even those with approval must stick to their prescribed routes. The processions will be closely monitored using drones, CCTV cameras and videography to keep a watch on any suspicious activity.
All sub-divisional officers have been instructed to appoint magistrates at sensitive spots in their areas. Police station in-charges will remain in touch with Muharram committees to coordinate and resolve any issues quickly. Officers were also told to maintain meaningful talks with community members to keep the environment calm.
The district administration will also activate its social media monitoring cell to check for rumours or provocative posts. Emergency services like dial 112 will remain ready at all times. Officials from health, electricity, fire, traffic, and municipal departments have been asked to stay alert and fulfil their responsibilities to make sure people can observe Muharram safely and without fear.
