Patna: A new road connecting Income Tax Golambar to Marine Drive through Bans Ghat Kali Mandir has been completed in Patna, marking a significant addition to the city’s road infrastructure.
The road, constructed over the Mandiri drain, is expected to improve connectivity and reduce travel time for commuters travelling towards Marine Drive.
Officials said the project had been awaited for several years and is aimed at easing congestion in central parts of the city.
Chief Minister to inaugurate road
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is scheduled to inaugurate the road on Monday.
Several public representatives and senior administrative officials are expected to attend the inauguration programme.
BJP president Nitin Nabin is also likely to be present at the event. According to officials, the project was conceptualised during his tenure as MLA in view of increasing traffic pressure in the area.
Officials review preparations
Ahead of the inauguration, Patna Divisional Commissioner Animesh Parashar and the District Magistrate Dr Thiyagarajan SM conducted an inspection of the project on Sunday.
City police, traffic police and municipal officials also reviewed security arrangements and construction quality at the site.
Parashar said preparations for the inauguration and public use of the road were being reviewed and any shortcomings identified during inspection were being addressed.
“All preparations are being reviewed before the inauguration. The road is being inspected and efforts are being made to remove any deficiencies at the earliest to ensure better facilities for the public,” he said.
Expected relief from traffic congestion
Officials said the new road is expected to reduce traffic congestion around Income Tax Golambar, Gandhi Maidan and Bailey Road.
Residents believe the route will provide quicker and easier access to Marine Drive while reducing delays caused by traffic jams in central Patna.
The administration said the project is intended to improve urban mobility and offer smoother travel for daily commuters.
