Patna: Patna Divisional Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar on Wednesday inspected two major infrastructure projects under Patna Smart City Limited — the Mandiri Drain Reconstruction Project and the Bans Ghat Crematorium Project — and instructed officials to accelerate work with a clear action plan.
During the inspection, Municipal Commissioner and Smart City Managing Director Yashpal Meena was also present. Parashar reviewed the pace of construction and directed that both projects be completed on a “war footing”.
“Both initiatives are vital for Patna’s urban infrastructure. Once completed, they will improve sanitation, drainage, and provide modern civic facilities,” Parashar said.
Mandiri Drain Redevelopment Project
The redevelopment of the Mandiri Drain, stretching from Bailey Road to Bans Ghat, aims to strengthen Patna’s stormwater drainage system and ease local traffic flow.
Key features of the project include:
- Total length: 1,289 metres (Bailey Road to Bans Ghat)
- Construction of box drain structure with a two-lane service road
- Provision for utility ducts and flow channels
- Development of two ramps and three desilting chambers for maintenance
- Installation of four sluice gates for water flow control
- Street lighting and beautification under the road enhancement plan
Bans Ghat Crematorium Project
Parashar also reviewed ongoing construction at Bans Ghat, where a modern and eco-friendly crematorium is being built on five acres of land under the Patna Smart City initiative.
Highlights of the project:
- Equipped with both electric and traditional cremation systems
- Includes waiting halls, changing rooms, prayer areas, toilets, drinking water, and landscaped green zones
- Development of two Ganga-fed ponds for ritual bathing and religious use
- Adequate parking and accessibility provisions for visitors
The Commissioner emphasised quality control, timely completion, and continuous monitoring, adding that the facility would serve as a symbol of cleanliness and dignity for the city.
