Patna: Patna Junction is set to introduce a premium parking system modelled on airport facilities, with higher charges and stricter controls aimed at easing congestion and improving passenger experience.
The new arrangement, to be implemented from January 16, will feature controlled entry and exit points, boom barriers, and a designated pick-up and drop-off zone with a limited free-time window. Railway officials say the changes are intended to bring order to the often chaotic traffic conditions around one of Bihar’s busiest railway stations.
Under the system, vehicles will be allowed eight minutes of free time for pick-up and drop-off. Any stay beyond this limit will attract parking charges. Boom barriers will be installed on the Mahavir Mandir side of the station, with access monitored to prevent unauthorised parking and to ensure smoother traffic flow.
Parking fees for both cars and motorcycles have been revised upwards.
🚗 Revised Parking Charges at Patna Junction 🏍️
- ⏱️ Cars (up to 2 hours): Rs 80 ⬆️ from Rs 60

Plans are also in place to introduce digital ticketing and surveillance to improve transparency and oversight.
