Patna: Security has been tightened across Patna ahead of the swearing-in of Chief Minister, with police and railway authorities conducting extensive checks at Patna Junction and surrounding areas.
A joint operation led by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) is underway across platforms, station premises and nearby hotels. Dog squads and bomb disposal teams have been deployed as part of precautionary measures linked to the event at Gandhi Maidan.
RPF inspector Shankar Ajay Patel and GRP station house officer Rajesh Kumar Sinha are overseeing the operation, which has included checks of passengers’ bags across platforms 1 to 10, inspections of parking areas and the removal of people found loitering. Officers said metal detectors were being used and CCTV surveillance had been intensified. Incoming and outgoing trains are also under watch for suspicious items or activity.
During the sweep, authorities said they recovered more than three dozen turtles from the station area.
Sinha said no luggage was being allowed on to platforms without inspection, adding that teams had carried out searches of the station premises, the Hanuman temple located inside the complex, a hostel and a rest house. “Tight security arrangements have been made for tomorrow’s event,” he said.
