Patna: Senior officials of Patna Municipal Corporation on Wednesday carried out a detailed field inspection in wards 29, 30, 31 and 32 of Kankarbagh to assess civic infrastructure, with a focus on waterlogging, road repairs, drinking water supply, street lighting and waste management.
The inspection was conducted on the directions of the municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena and included local ward councillors and engineering officials.
Focus on monsoon preparedness
Officials visited several areas, including Karbigahiya, Chandmari Road, Ashok Nagar and Pragati Nagar, to review on-ground conditions and identify bottlenecks in drainage and civic services.
The exercise comes as the civic body prepares for the monsoon season, when several low-lying areas in Kankarbagh face recurrent waterlogging.
Drainage obstacles flagged on Chandmari Road
During the inspection of Chandmari Road, officials were informed that most water supply-related works in the area had been completed.
However, councillors and residents pointed out that electric poles located over a newly constructed box drain were obstructing water flow, raising concerns of flooding during heavy rain.
Officials directed that house-to-house water connections under the tap water scheme and pending road restoration works be completed within seven days. They also asked departments to coordinate for the early relocation of the obstructing power poles.

Ashok Nagar chambers to be linked
At Ashok Nagar tri-junction, local representatives highlighted recurring waterlogging during rainfall.
Officials said a long-term solution would require linking two drainage chambers near Road No. 13. The executive engineer was directed to prepare and begin the required work at the earliest.
Open drain near marriage hall raises safety concerns
Near Shakuntala Marriage Hall, officials found an uncovered drain that residents said posed a safety risk and hindered movement.
The executive engineer was instructed to coordinate with the road construction department to cover the drain on priority and ensure safer access for pedestrians.
Obstructions found at Pragati Nagar pumping station
The inspection also covered the under-construction drainage pumping station at Pragati Nagar.
Officials found that portions of an existing municipal drain had been blocked due to the construction work, affecting water flow.
They directed coordination with Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) to remove the obstructions within two days and complete cleaning and grating work to restore proper drainage.
Regular monitoring promised
Officials interacted with residents and public representatives during the inspection and said civic works would be monitored regularly.
They said accountability would be fixed in cases of negligence and all departments had been instructed to complete pending works within the prescribed deadlines.
