Patna: Construction of one of the two ramps connecting Karbigahiya Roundabout and Mithapur in Patna has been completed, marking another milestone in the city’s ongoing flyover project aimed at easing traffic congestion.
Officials said the northern ramp, which carries traffic from Mithapur to Karbigahiya Roundabout, has been structurally completed and is undergoing finishing work. The southern ramp, which will allow vehicles to descend from Karbigahiya Roundabout towards Mithapur, remains under construction.
Southern Ramp Expected By August 15
According to the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited, around 30% of the southern ramp is yet to be completed.
Officials said two remaining concrete slabs are scheduled to be installed next week, after which finishing work will begin. The corporation has set a target of making the ramp operational by August 15.
The overall project is expected to be completed by December, although Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal, during an inspection last month, had directed officials to complete construction by July.
Improved Connectivity Across Patna
Once both ramps become operational, commuters are expected to benefit from smoother travel between central Patna and eastern parts of the city.
The project will enable motorists travelling from the Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, Beerchand Patel Path and Buddha Marg to access the Education Hub—located at the site of the former Mithapur bus stand—through the Mithapur and Karbigahiya elevated roundabouts.
Similarly, commuters arriving from the bypass via the Education Hub will be able to reach Mithapur and continue towards other parts of the city using the elevated corridor.
Officials also expect the project to significantly reduce congestion beneath Karbigahiya Roundabout, improving access to Karbigahiya Railway Station and the Chiraiyatand Bridge.
Rs 292.74 Crore Project
The elevated corridor is being constructed at a cost of Rs 292.74 crore and spans 1,730 metres.
The flyover connects R-Block, GPO, Mithapur Roundabout, Karbigahiya Railway Station and Kankarbagh, forming part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow in one of Patna’s busiest transport corridors.
Officials said the project is expected to provide uninterrupted vehicular movement and reduce travel time once fully operational.
