Patna: Work on the western corridor of the Patna Metro Project is gathering momentum, with construction advancing simultaneously on its underground and elevated sections, officials said.
An underground metro line is planned to connect Akashvani Metro Station to Vidyut Bhawan via Nehru Path (Bailey Road). A new underground station proposed near Vidyut Bhawan is expected to provide direct metro access to the secretariat area and adjoining government offices.
From Vidyut Bhawan, the underground tunnel will extend to Vikas Bhawan, Patna Zoo, Raja Bazaar and Rukhanpura, before terminating at Patliputra Metro Station.
Beyond Patliputra railway station, metro services will shift to an elevated track. The elevated corridor will link Rupaspur RoB with Danapur Metro Station via RPS More and Saguna More, a stretch officials say is expected to ease daily commuting in western Patna and the adjoining Danapur area.
Soil testing for the underground tunnel and stations along Nehru Path is in its final stages, with construction due to begin once the technical reports are cleared. Officials said the findings would guide excavation methods and structural design to ensure safety and durability.
Meanwhile, construction of the elevated corridor between Rupaspur RoB and Danapur is nearing completion. Preparations are under way to commission this section within the stipulated timeframe, a move expected to mark a significant milestone for the city’s mass rapid transit system.
