Patna: The Bihar State Pollution Control Board has appealed to the people of Patna to observe ‘No Horn Day’ every Sunday. The aim is to give residents a break from the constant noise of traffic and reduce harmful noise pollution in the city.
In a press release issued on July 30, 2025, the board said that unnecessary honking is still common in Patna, despite earlier requests. Officials have asked drivers to avoid using horns unless absolutely necessary and to stay quiet around areas marked as ‘silent zones’ such as hospitals, schools, and certain residential areas.
The board warned that noise pollution can cause health problems like stress, hearing loss, and trouble sleeping. They urged citizens to cooperate, saying that small efforts from everyone could make a big difference to the city’s environment and the wellbeing of its people.
