Patna: In an effort to prevent the spread of dengue, Patna Municipal Corporation has launched an extensive fogging and anti-larva drive across all wards. Around 18,000 houses are being sprayed daily by 375 teams, with each team covering 50 homes. Public places, narrow lanes, rooftops and water collection spots are also being targeted to stop mosquito breeding.
Special fogging and spraying are being carried out within a 500-metre radius of every confirmed dengue case. Patients’ details are collected daily, and both outdoor machine fogging and indoor hand spraying are being conducted. The health officer at the headquarters is overseeing this process, while officials in all six zones monitor fogging activities and ensure affected houses and nearby areas are covered.
A dedicated team is operating around major hospitals including PMCH, NMCH, AIIMS, IGIMS, Gardiner and Rajvanshi Nagar, with geo-tagged photographs being shared for daily monitoring. Workers are also required to maintain logbooks signed by residents.
The commissioner has instructed zone officers to ensure strict supervision and prevent negligence. Awareness campaigns are also being run through jingles, public service announcements and door-to-door vehicles to remind residents that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean water and bite during the day. Citizens are being urged not to let water collect in pots, containers or open areas.
Fogging is being conducted in markets and public places identified as high-risk, with additional coverage in areas where complaints are received. Residents can request spraying through the helpline number 155304.
