Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched “Mission Vishwakarma”, a 17-day initiative aimed at repairing, maintaining and branding its fleet of 400 vehicles used in city cleaning and civic services.
The campaign, which runs until September 17, coincides with Vishwakarma Puja. Officials said the drive is designed not only to fix and refurbish vehicles but also to build a long-term system for their upkeep.
Municipal commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar said the mission’s goal was “not only to repair vehicles, but to develop a system so that our vehicles can work in excellent condition for a long time.” He added that maintenance would be completed ahead of the festival to ensure better public services.
Under the campaign, all vehicles will be branded as “Safai Express” to spread awareness about cleanliness. The programme also includes daily inspections and transparent reporting of repairs. By carrying out work in the corporation’s own workshop, officials expect to save both time and money while reducing reliance on external contractors.
Last year, a dedicated workshop was established in Kankarbagh to handle municipal fleet repairs, which officials said had produced positive results. This year’s expanded effort builds on that model, with daily monitoring and record-keeping to ensure accountability.
