Patna: Patna police have intensified their crackdown on organised crime, making two major arrests within 24 hours. Officers seized three advanced pistols marked “Made in USA” and arrested an alleged arms smuggler from Punjab, while a separate operation in Mumbai led to the detention of one of Bihar’s most wanted criminals, Suraj alias Bhainsiya.
The arms smuggler, identified as Jaikaran Preet Singh from Amritsar, was arrested after police raided a guesthouse in the Chowk area of Patna. Investigators recovered three pistols, seven magazines, and five empty cartridges from his possession. Police said Singh has been active in supplying illegal weapons from Punjab to Bihar and neighbouring states, and believe his arrest has disrupted a wider criminal network.
In a parallel development, police tracked down Suraj alias Bhainsiya, a fugitive with over 30 cases of murder, kidnapping, dacoity, and robbery registered against him in Patna and nearby districts. A special team arrested him in Thane, Maharashtra, following technical surveillance and brought him to Patna on transit remand.
Senior officials said both operations were carried out based on secret intelligence and form part of a broader campaign to curb crime in the state capital. Police confirmed further raids are underway to dismantle arms trafficking networks and to pursue associates of Bhainsiya.
