Patna: A Durga Puja pandal modelled on a European royal palace is being constructed near the Gandhi statue at Punaichak Crossing in Patna, with the organisers estimating that the total expenditure on the pandal, idol and decorations will exceed Rs 10 lakh.
The pandal is being organised by Shri Shri 108 Durga Puja Samiti Navyuvak Sangh, a committee that has worshipped Goddess Durga in the locality for more than 100 years. The palace-inspired structure and decorative lighting are expected to be among the main attractions of this year’s celebrations.
15-Foot Idol And 20 Lions
A 15-foot-tall idol of Goddess Durga will be installed inside the pandal. The idol will be depicted alongside 20 lions, forming a central feature of the display.
The organisers are incorporating the palace theme into the structure and artistic decorations to give devotees a distinctive setting for the annual festival.
Lighting And Decorations
The committee is also arranging colourful lighting to illuminate the pandal, particularly during the evening. The lighting will complement the palace-inspired design and decorative elements.
Preparations are under way to bring together the structure, idol and lighting arrangements ahead of the festivities.
Committee Estimates Spending At More Than Rs 10 Lakh
According to the organisers, the estimated expenditure on the pandal’s construction, the idol, decorations and other arrangements will exceed Rs 10 lakh this year.
Akash Krishna, also known as Goldy Yadav, is the committee’s president, while Manish Yadav serves as treasurer. The committee has continued its annual Durga Puja celebrations in Punaichak for more than a century, with a different decorative theme forming part of its approach to the festival.
