Patna: Patna’s road infrastructure came under scrutiny on Friday as Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Road Construction Department, conducted a detailed review of 22 ongoing projects across the city. The inspection, held at the departmental conference hall, aimed to evaluate progress, adherence to quality standards, and the resolution of both temporary and permanent encroachments.
Key projects examined included road construction around the Minister’s residential complex in Gardanibagh, developments near Bapu Tower, and strengthening works from Khetan Market to Ashok Rajpath. Additional focus was given to the NH-30 to Bhoothnath link road, the Veterinary College link road, and routes in Patliputra Colony and Vivekananda Marg. Most projects were found to be progressing satisfactorily, officials said.
Secretary Pal emphasised the importance of superior riding quality for commuters and instructed Executive Engineers to carry out regular site inspections. He also directed the removal of encroachments and installation of clear signage, warning that any complaints received would be addressed immediately.
Expressing concern over road damage caused without prior No Objection Certificates (NOC), he stressed that no work should proceed without official clearance. Engineers have been asked to report violations immediately, with high-level coordination to ensure timely corrective action. Secretary Pal reaffirmed the department’s commitment to making Patna’s roads safer, more robust, and traffic-friendly, urging all officials to deliver projects on time with transparency and quality.
