Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has formed special monitoring teams to oversee the quality of ongoing road restoration projects across the city, following concerns about transparency and standards.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by the municipal commissioner on Tuesday. Under the plan, deputy municipal commissioners will supervise work at headquarters level, while executive officers will monitor progress in different zones.
Each monitoring team will be required to inspect two wards daily, checking that specifications such as length, width and thickness meet prescribed standards. Teams will also ensure that geo-tagged photographs and daily inspection reports are submitted to nodal officers.

If irregularities are found, immediate corrective measures will be ordered and reports prepared to prevent duplication of work. Officials warned that strict action will be taken against contractors, including blacklisting and debarment, while suspension of responsible engineers may also be recommended.
The commissioner stressed the importance of keeping traffic flow smooth during the upcoming festive season. Senior officers of the corporation and officials from the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation attended the meeting.
