Patna: The Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna opened to the general public from Today, nearly three months after its inauguration, with authorities introducing an online-only ticketing system to manage visitor access.
Entry to the science centre will be permitted exclusively through advance online booking on www.apjsciencecity.com, with no tickets available at on-site counters. An e-ticketing portal has been launched to facilitate reservations, allowing visitors to select their preferred date, time slot and category before making digital payments.
The Science City will be open daily from 11am to 5pm, with entry capped at 50 visitors per hour. Tickets can be booked via the official website, where visitors may either carry a printed copy of the e-ticket or display it on their mobile phones at the entrance.
The entry fee has been set at Rs 50 for visitors above the age of 12, while children aged between five and 12 years will be charged Rs 10. Entry will be free for organised groups from schools, colleges and universities, as well as institutional groups comprising 25 or more people. Persons with disabilities and senior citizens aged above 70 years have also been exempted from paying the entry fee.
The Science City was inaugurated by the chief minister on September 21 but remained closed to the public until now. Built in memory of former president and renowned scientist APJ Abdul Kalam, the complex spans approximately 20.5 acres.
Of the five planned science-based galleries, two—the BA Scientists Gallery and the Basic Science Gallery—are currently open. The facility also houses 269 science models, a 4D theatre, a 500-seat auditorium and a student dormitory, with additional sections expected to open in phases.
