Patna: A mobile shopkeeper in Barh, near Patna, has been arrested on charges of raping a woman and threatening to kill her four-month-old child. The incident allegedly occurred when the woman, a resident of Pandarak block, visited the shop to purchase a mobile phone.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Vikas Kumar, lured the woman under the pretext of showing her a mobile phone priced at Rs 4,800. He then took her to a room above a cloth shop in Bichligali, where he allegedly assaulted her.
In her complaint, the woman claimed that Kumar threatened to harm her child if she resisted or spoke about the incident. She also alleged that the accused told her, “I don’t spare any woman who comes to my shop.”
The woman’s husband is employed in Gujarat. Following her complaint, a case was registered under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Kumar has since been taken into judicial custody. The woman reportedly declined to undergo a medical examination.
