Patna: Patna is set for a major green-space upgrade, with the Patna Municipal Corporation planning the construction and renovation of six parks and ponds across the city at an estimated cost of Rs 11.57 crore.
The projects are aimed at increasing green spaces while providing residents with better facilities for recreation, fitness, walking and community activities. Two of the projects are already nearing completion, while work on others is moving through the tender and approval process.
The planned facilities include open gyms, children’s play areas, fountains, landscaped gardens, walkways, benches, lighting, drinking water and toilets.
CID Colony to Get Pond-Cum-Park
A new pond-cum-park will be developed near the Surya Temple in CID Colony, under Ward 8 of the Patliputra zone.
The project will cover around 3,364 square metres and has an estimated cost of Rs 1.71 crore. The site is planned as a green public space with facilities for local residents.
Janta Flats Park to Be Renovated
The park located in the Janta Flats complex in Ward 46 will undergo renovation at a cost of around Rs 46 lakh.
The work will include a boundary wall, walking ramp and paver blocks, aimed at improving accessibility and usability for residents.
New Modern Park Planned in Rajendra Nagar
A new park will be developed near Branch Maidan on Road No. 5 in Rajendra Nagar, under Ward 43 of the Bankipore zone.
The project is estimated to cost aroundRs 1.50 crore, and a tender has already been issued.
The proposed park will feature an open gym, selfie point, fountain, high-mast lighting, green lawn, benches, swings and shaded areas.
Dumdum Park in Srikrishnapuri to Get a Makeover
The Dumdum Park in Srikrishnapuri will also be redeveloped over an area of around 60,000 square feet.
The project has an estimated cost of Rs 2.45 crore and will include landscaping, green areas, seating spaces, drinking water facilities and pathways.
Sipara Park to Come Up in Kankarbagh Area
A large Sipara Park will be developed near the Directorate of Agriculture in Meethapur, under Ward 30.
Spread across approximately 14,717 square metres, the project is estimated to cost around Rs 3.97 crore. The tender process has already been initiated.
The park will include a children’s play area, open gym, fountain with decorative lighting, gazebo, seating spaces, selfie point and landscaped gardens.
Kacchi Talab Renovation Nears Completion
The renovation of Kacchi Talab in the New Capital zone is reportedly nearing completion.
AroundRs 1.48 crore has been spent on the project. The pond was first dewatered, followed by deep cleaning and removal of accumulated silt and waste.
The base has been strengthened using gravel, sand filling and stone boulders to improve the pond’s condition and usability.
Better Public Spaces for Residents
The projects are expected to improve access to green and recreational spaces across several parts of Patna.
With facilities such as walking tracks, open gyms, children’s play areas, seating spaces and improved lighting, the upgraded parks are intended to serve children, young people and senior citizens alike.
The civic body’s wider plan is to make these spaces more attractive, accessible and useful for everyday recreation and community activities.
