Patna: A new street food zone named “Square Street” on Mandiri- Chhajjubag area in Patna is set to open by this month- end, bringing together a wide range of street food vendors in a single location. The initiative aims to provide residents with easier access to diverse food options without the need to travel across multiple parts of the city.
Developed as a project by the Patna Municipal Corporation, the vending zone is designed to benefit both food vendors and customers by creating an organised and welcoming public space. Officials say the concept focuses on improving the street food experience while offering vendors a structured and secure place to operate their businesses.
“The space has been designed with attention to aesthetics and visitor comfort. Greenery, lighting installations and wall paintings have been introduced to create an attractive environment. Seating arrangements have also been included to allow visitors to sit and enjoy meals in a relaxed setting, marking a shift from the informal street-side arrangements often associated with local food hubs,” said Priya, public relations officer at Patna Smart City Limited.
Officials claimed that hygiene and basic public facilities have been given priority in the planning of the zone. Washrooms and wash basins have been installed to ensure a cleaner experience for visitors and vendors alike. With its blend of convenience, design and infrastructure, Square Street is expected to become a new social and food destination for Patna residents once it opens later this month.
