Patna: A student from Patna has secured a place on the international stage after being selected to represent India at the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 competition. Ashish Rajvansh, a sixth-semester Mechanical Engineering student at Government Polytechnic Gulzarbagh, will compete in the Aircraft Maintenance category at the global skills event scheduled to begin on September 22, 2026.
His selection has brought recognition to both the institute and Bihar’s technical education sector, while also serving as an inspiration for students aspiring to build careers in advanced technical fields.
Selection for Global Competition
WorldSkills is regarded as one of the world’s leading platforms for showcasing vocational and technical skills. Ashish will represent India in Aircraft Maintenance, a category that tests participants on technical precision, troubleshooting abilities and industry-standard maintenance practices.
The achievement follows years of preparation and strong performances in competitive skill events at different levels.
Medal-Winning Journey
Before earning a place in the WorldSkills team, Ashish participated in several skill competitions across the country.
He won a gold medal at a state-level competition held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Later, he secured a bronze medal at a national-level event in Mumbai, strengthening his credentials for international selection.
Faculty members said these performances highlighted his technical competence and consistency under competitive conditions.
Advanced Training at GMR Aero School
Following his success in state and national competitions, Ashish was selected for advanced training and assessment at the GMR Aero School of Aviation.
During the programme, he underwent specialised training designed to prepare candidates for international skill competitions. According to the institute, his performance during the assessment process played a key role in confirming his selection for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
The training helped further develop his technical knowledge and practical skills in aircraft maintenance.
College Confident of Strong Performance
Teachers and officials at Government Polytechnic Gulzarbagh said Ashish has continued to prepare with dedication ahead of the international competition.
They expressed confidence that he will perform strongly in Shanghai and represent India successfully on the global stage.
