Patna: A 26-year-old teacher, identified as Jyoti Kumari from Samastipur, died by suicide on Monday at the Saumya ANM Training School in Patna’s Shastri Nagar area. The incident caused panic within the campus and shock across the locality.
According to police, Jyoti had been on a video call with a youth shortly before her death. Minutes after the call ended, she allegedly locked herself inside her room and became unresponsive to repeated calls.
Youth Tried Calling 26 Times
Police sources said the youth made 26 phone calls in an attempt to reach her. When she failed to respond, he alerted another teacher at the institute. Staff members rushed to Jyoti’s room, knocking repeatedly, but received no reply.
Footage recorded by school staff shows them breaking the door open, only to find Jyoti hanging from the ceiling.
Forensic Team Begins Investigation
A forensic team and officers from the Shastri Nagar police station arrived on the scene and began collecting evidence. Jyoti’s body was later sent for postmortem.
“We are examining all possible angles, including personal stress and relationship issues,” a police officer said. Investigators have seized her mobile phone and personal documents for analysis.
Teacher Had Been Under Stress, Say Locals
Local residents told police that Jyoti had been visibly stressed in recent days. Officers are now awaiting the postmortem report and call detail records (CDR) to verify the sequence of events.
Police said further action will depend on forensic findings and digital evidence.
