Patna Tops List with Most Deletions, Sheohar Lowest in Bihar Voter List Draft

Patna: The Election Commission of India has released the draft voter list for Bihar following a recent revision, announcing that the names of over 65.64 lakh individuals have been removed from the electoral roll. The draft was made public on Friday, marking a significant update to the state’s voter records.

According to the data released by the Election Commission, the highest number of deletions came from Patna district, with 3.95 lakh names removed. In contrast, Sheohar district recorded the fewest deletions, with 28,166 names removed from the list.

Talking about the district-wise Election Commission figures, the maximum number of voters’ names have been deleted from Patna. The figures for all districts are as follows:

  • Patna: 3,95,500 names deleted
  • Madhubani: 3,52,545 names deleted
  • East Champaran: 3,16,793 names deleted
  • Gopalganj: 3,10,363 names deleted
  • Samastipur: 2,83,955 names deleted
  • Muzaffarpur: 2,82,845 names deleted
  • Saran: 2,73,223 names deleted
  • Purnia: 2,73,920 names deleted
  • Gaya: 2,45,663 names deleted
  • Bhagalpur: 2,44,612 names deleted
  • Siwan: 2,21,711 names deleted
  • Vaishali: 2,25,953 names deleted
  • West Champaran: 1,91,376 names deleted
  • Bhojpur: 1,90,832 names deleted
  • Katihar: 1,84,254 names deleted
  • Begusarai: 1,67,756 names deleted
  • Araria: 1,58,072 names deleted
  • Rohtas: 1,56,148 names deleted
  • Kishanganj: 1,45,668 names deleted
  • Nalanda: 1,38,505 names deleted
  • Saharsa: 1,31,596 names deleted
  • Supaul: 1,28,207 names deleted
  • Nawada: 1,26,450 names deleted
  • Banka: 1,17,346 names deleted
  • Madhepura: 98,076 names deleted
  • Jamui: 91,882 names deleted
  • Buxar: 87,645 names deleted
  • Khagaria: 79,551 names deleted
  • Munger: 74,916 names deleted
  • Kaimur (Bhabua): 73,940 names deleted
  • Jehanabad: 53,089 names deleted
  • Lakhisarai: 48,824 names deleted
  • Arwal: 30,000 names deleted
  • Aurangabad: 30,180 names deleted
  • Sheohar: 28,166 names deleted
  • Sheikhpura: 26,256 names deleted
  • Sitamarhi: 24,962 names deleted

The Election Commission has provided a one-month window for claims and objections to the draft list. From August 1 to September 1, any eligible voter who was not included can apply to have their name added. Similarly, citizens can apply to remove ineligible names or make corrections to existing entries.

A state-level meeting was held with representatives from nine recognized political parties on Friday, where the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar shared the draft voter list. Hard and soft copies of the list were distributed to the party representatives for their review.

The final voter list, after the claims and objections process is completed, is scheduled to be published on September 30.
