Patna: Traffic movement across several parts of Patna will face major restrictions on May 7 due to the swearing-in ceremony at Gandhi Maidan and the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, police officials said.
According to the traffic police, restrictions and route diversions will remain in effect from 8am until the conclusion of the programme around 3pm.
Authorities said ambulances, hearses, invited guests and vehicles carrying authorised passes will be exempt from the restrictions.
Key Traffic Restrictions
🚫 Airport Route Restrictions
- No vehicles allowed from Dumra TOP (Sheikhpura Mor) towards the airport
- Restrictions from Airport Roundabout eastwards up to Patel Roundabout
🚫 Central Patna Restrictions
- Vehicular movement barred from Rajendra Chowk towards Patel Roundabout
- Restrictions around Harding Road, Sinchai Bhawan, R-Block Flyover and Income Tax Roundabout
- No movement northwards from Chitkohra Roundabout
🚫 Gandhi Maidan Security Zone
- Traffic prohibited around GPO Flyover, Dak Bungalow and Kotwali areas
- JP Roundabout to Children’s Park designated as a secured corridor
- General public vehicles prohibited on the corridor
🚫 Patna Junction And SP Verma Road
- No vehicles allowed from Patna Junction towards Dak Bungalow
- Entry to SP Verma Road from New Dak Bungalow prohibited
🚫 Ashok Rajpath And Buddha Marg
- Restrictions westwards from Jamun Gali towards Kargil Chowk
- Roads towards Gandhi Maidan from Kotwali T-point to Police Lines T-point closed
Parking Restrictions
🚫 Parking has been prohibited on multiple stretches, including:
- Dak Bungalow to Patna Junction
- JP Roundabout to Dak Bungalow
- Roads surrounding Gandhi Maidan
- Exhibition Road near Ramgulam Chowk
Authorities also banned handcarts and roadside stalls in these zones.
Airport Advisory
Traffic police have advised passengers travelling to the airport to preferably use Jagdev Path and leave at least three hours before scheduled departure times.
Entry Arrangements For Guests
Officials said:
- Ministers and dignitaries with stage passes will enter through Gate No. 12
- VIPs and invited guests will enter via Gate No. 4
- Media vehicles will use Gate No. 11
- Public attendees arriving through Ashok Rajpath can enter through Gates 7, 8, 9 and 10
Additional parking arrangements have been made at Gyan Bhawan, A.N. Sinha Institute and Magadh Mahila College in case designated parking areas reach capacity.
Police appealed to residents to use alternative routes and cooperate with traffic arrangements during the event.
