Patna: Traffic movement in central Patna will be significantly restricted on December 27 and 28, as authorities implement special arrangements to manage the expected surge of visitors to the Saras Mela at Gandhi Maidan.
The city traffic police have announced that commercial vehicles, auto-rickshaws, and e-rickshaws will be prohibited on roads surrounding Gandhi Maidan, with exemptions granted only to emergency services. The restrictions are aimed at preventing congestion and ensuring public safety during the two days.
Auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws approaching from Danapur via Rajapur Bridge will be diverted back towards Danapur from the Police Line T-junction. Vehicles coming from the Gaighat side on Ashok Rajpath will be turned back at Kargil Chowk, near the western end of the double-decker flyover.
Traffic authorities have also barred auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws from moving towards Gandhi Maidan from Bhattacharya Chowk on Exhibition Road and from TN Banerjee Path via Buddhamarg and Chajjubagh. Similarly, operations will remain suspended on Bank Road from Police Line Gate No. 1 and on the stretch between Buddhamarg Police Line T-junction and Kotwali T-junction.
Vehicles approaching from SP Verma Road will be allowed only up to the Swaminandan T-junction, after which they must return via Bata Chowk. On Bari Path, autos and e-rickshaws will operate only between Machhua Toli and Thakur Bari Chowk, with no entry permitted towards Gandhi Maidan or Bakarganj.
Traffic police have urged commuters to plan their journeys and cooperate with on-ground personnel to avoid inconvenience during the festival period.
