Patna: Authorities in Patna have imposed sweeping traffic restrictions across the city from 5pm on Friday as part of heightened security arrangements for Ram Navami celebrations, with police urging residents to check advisories before travelling.
The measures come as thousands are expected to gather for a grand shobha yatra, prompting officials to suspend vehicular movement on several major routes. According to the traffic police, the restrictions will remain in force until late in the night, when the procession concludes.
The city has been placed under an intensified security grid, with additional personnel deployed and CCTV surveillance activated across key junctions to monitor compliance. Officials said the revised traffic plan is aimed at ensuring crowd control and preventing congestion during the event.

Key stretches linking Bailey Road and Boring Road to the Income Tax roundabout will be closed to all private and commercial vehicles once the procession begins moving through the area. Authorities warned that any violations would be strictly dealt with.
Commuters travelling towards Gandhi Maidan from Lohia Chakra have been advised to avoid the Income Tax roundabout and instead take alternative routes via Boring Road and Rajapul.
Diversions have also been introduced for those heading towards Patna Junction railway station and the R-Block area. Vehicles from Lohia Chakra will be redirected through the Circuit House route, with onward connectivity provided via the GPO and Chiraiyatand flyovers. Police said signboards and personnel have been stationed to assist visitors unfamiliar with the city.
With large crowds expected, officials have appealed to residents to rely on public transport and avoid unnecessary travel through restricted zones. Heavy pedestrian movement is anticipated along the procession route, increasing the likelihood of congestion in adjoining areas.
Police have urged the public to follow instructions and adhere to diversions, warning that safe movement across the city depends on strict compliance with the advisory.
