Patna: The Patna Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown on vehicles displaying unauthorized government nameplates. Individuals using such plates on personal vehicles now face a fine of Rs. 2,500. The operation targets vehicles associated with both the Bihar government and the Government of India. Only official government vehicles assigned to specific departments or officers are permitted to display these nameplates.
During the campaign, the police identified and impounded 50 vehicles with unauthorized government nameplates on major roads across the city.
In a separate incident on Christmas Day, six individuals were arrested for drunk driving while traveling in the same vehicle. The arrested individuals have been identified as Gopal Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, and Kundan Kumar from Nalanda; Anil and Amarnath from Saran; and Pritam Kumar from Patna. The crackdown on unauthorized nameplates is part of the traffic police’s broader efforts to enhance road safety and enforce compliance with traffic regulations.
