Patna: Patna police have arrested two men accused of abducting and gang-raping a woman at gunpoint near Fatuha railway station late on Tuesday night.
The woman, a resident of Fatuha subdivision, was waiting for transport around 11.30pm when the two men allegedly forced her onto a motorbike at gunpoint and assaulted her in a nearby room. They reportedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
The victim was later found crying by a police patrol on the roadside. She recounted the incident and guided officers to the location where the assault took place. Police said the accused, identified as Sonu Kumar, also known as Sonu Sannata, and his associate Niranjan, were attempting to flee when they were apprehended. Their clothes from the incident were recovered, and investigators are searching for the pistol allegedly discarded in a nearby waterlogged pit.
Patna Rural superintendent of police Vikram Sihag confirmed the arrests and said both men were taken into custody the same night. He added that eight previous cases, including extortion and offences under the Arms Act, were already registered against Sonu.
